Welcome Little Seekers! Our EcoLeaning Kids Center is available for kids to attend for any duration, from 1 day up to the full academic year.
Based in Marsa Alam along the south Red Sea coast in Egypt, Seekers EcoSchool is a local community initiative powered by CIPPO, Egypt’s leading company in child development and educational solutions.
Our school combines social and emotional learning along with green education all while prioritizing child-led participation. Supported by the American Curriculum and the EcoSchools Program, we aim to help our little ones understand the value of what they are learning as well as where they are learning it.
Drawing inspiration from renowned educational approaches such as Reggio Emilia, Waldorf education and Montessori principles, we want to create a nurturing and engaging environment where children thrive.

Bringing Nature into the Classroom
EcoLearning is a nature-based educational approach that incorporates the natural environment into the learning process.
Instead of confining education to traditional classroom settings, nature- based learning encourages students to interact with the natural world as an integral part of their education. They will spend a significant portion of their time outdoors, engaging in activities such as gardening, wildlife observation and hands-on exploration of natural phenomena. Our students learn to become keen observers, developing an ability to identify plant and animal species, understand their habitats, and recognize the environmental challenges they face.
The curriculum is designed to integrate subjects like science, math, language arts and social studies with outdoor experiences, fostering a deeper connection to nature and promoting environmental stewardship. We believe that this not only enhances their academic knowledge but also contributes to their overall well-being, nurturing a sense of wonder, resilience, and environmental responsibility.
What is Ecolearning?
We collaborate with local environmental organizations in Marsa Alam, expert naturalists and community members to provide our students with opportunities for authentic engagement with the natural world. Whether it’s participating in animal watch initiatives such as Turtlewatch, doing beach clean-ups, or learning about the Hurghada Environmental Protection and Conservation Association’s (HEPCA) coral restoration projects, our students benefit from a dynamic learning environment that extends beyond textbooks and embraces the richness of our surroundings.
Benefits of EcoLearning include:
• Greater appreciation for nature
• Reduced stress
• Better teamwork
• Improved academics
• Increased physical activity
• High creativity
Framework: Education through a Child’s Eyes
We adopt a multi-faceted approach to education that blends social and emotional learning, nature based learning, environmental literacy and green education with child led participation.
Under the umbrella of the American curriculum, our classes start from preschool to Elementary (ages 3-10) and will cover subjects such as language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and arts, taught mainly in English with some sessions in Arabic. Our framework includes four main tenants:
1. Nature Based Learning
Many children living in cities in today’s world experience what renowned expert Richard Louv terms as “nature deficit disorder” due to the disconnect that they experience from the rise of technology as well as being in schools that do not incorporate nature into their curriculum.
Nature-based education helps children foster environmental stewardship, sustainable behaviors and social-emotional development. It also reduces stress, improves self-regulation and promotes empathy and cooperation among children. These findings show the importance of how a nature-based approach supports holistic development and environmental consciousness.
2. Social and Emotional Learning
Integrating CASEL’s five Social and Emotional Learning pillars into a nature-based teaching curriculum cultivates self-awareness through nature exploration, self management through adapting to outdoor settings, social awareness through understanding ecosystems, relationship skills through cooperative projects and responsible decision making through ethical engagement with the natural world.
3. Green Education and Environmental Literacy
The Eco-Schools program developed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is an internationally recognized project-based learning framework that promotes environmental awareness, sustainability practices and student-led initiatives in schools worldwide.
Guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as set forth by the United Nations, Eco-Schools has a Seven Steps methodology that we aim to apply in order to carve a more serious path towards improving our environmental footprint. The method encourages students to take on environmental
problems at a level where they can see real results. It will involve various individuals in the school community with students being the main facilitators in the process.
4. Child Led Learning and Autonomy
Children have unique interests, curiosity and influence, so we aim to foster their natural inclination for exploration and discovery. One renowned example of this is the Reggio Emilia approach which emphasizes the importance of the environment as the “third teacher” and values the role of collaboration, creativity and expression in children’s learning. It encourages children to take the lead in their learning, allowing them to initiate projects, ask questions and explore topics of interest.
Teaching to make a Difference
At Seekers EcoSchool, we uphold rigorous standards in our recruitment and vetting process to ensure that only the most qualified and passionate educators join our team. We recognize the pivotal role teachers and staff play in shaping your child’s educational experience, which is why we meticulously select individuals who not only possess the necessary qualifications but also share our commitment to holistic learning and environmental stewardship.
Our thorough screening process done through CIPPO includes comprehensive background checks, extensive interviews and thorough reference checks to ensure that every member of our team embodies values and dedication to providing exceptional education. CIPPO’s training programs are comprehensive and designed to equip educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. Additionally, we provide ongoing supervision and support to our teachers and child practitioners, promoting their continuous growth and development.
Regarding safety and supervision during outdoor activities, our dedicated staff members undergo rigorous training in water safety, first aid and emergency response protocols. We maintain small student-to- staff ratios to ensure personalized attention and effective supervision, allowing us to closely monitor each child’s participation and ensure a safe learning environment.
Facilities: Learning by the Sea
By the stunning Red Sea coastline of Marsa Alam lies the small village of Marsa Shagra where we offer our unique learning environment. Students have access to the expansive sandy shore and coastal ecosystems, allowing for hands-on experiences that foster a deep connection to marine life. Our campus features two classrooms with plenty of light and serving as a central connector between them will be a local Doum tree, a reminder to protect our indigenous flora. We also have a large shaded outdoor area with a goal to have it carefully designed as a sensory experience play space incorporating the elements of nature. In addition to traditional classroom facilities such as on site bathrooms, a teacher’s lounge and storage room, we have desert trails and designated beach areas specifically tailored for educational activities.
