We would like to thank everyone who entered our video competition for the January-June 2017 period. It wasn't an easy decision but our videography workshop leader Jeff Goodman has carefully judged the entries and made his decision!
Huge congratulations to Robert Paauw for his video 'Marsa Shagra 2017' which has won him a free stay at the RSDS village of his choice!
Jeff has been kind enough to take the time to write a general comment and a detailed one about the winning video which we would like to share with you:

Well done everyone. Making videos is not that easy and is very time consuming but the end product can be extremely rewarding as a personal challenge as well as pleasing when appreciated by an audience. Don't forget, you don't need expensive equipment to make good videos, just a lot of patience and a little bit of luck. Excellent variety of films to look through.
All well deserving of mention but there can only be one winner and that is 'Marsa Shagra 2017' by Robert Paauw. The deciding factor was the overall variety and quality of animal behaviour. The camera work was good and the editing very tidy and precise. I did feel the film was too long at 7 minutes but never the less it did leave the greatest impression with me after watching all the entries.
You can watch all entries, including the winner

The competition is now open for the next 6 months, register and enter your video for a chance to win a free stay at one of the RSDS villages.
