Our main aim is for all of our guests to have an amazing holiday and all-round experience. Whether you are joining us to dive, kite surf, snorkel or simply relax in the breathtaking scenery of the Red Sea, it is very important to us that you have a great time.
In the last weeks Egypt has featured a lot in the international media, because of the political situation here. Hearing all of this news in the lead-up to a holiday can be worrying, and many may wonder whether they have made the right decision by choosing the Red Sea as their destination. In addition many of our on-site guests have been asking how they can help us. For this reason we have launched our Support Egypt campaign.
There are two main aims of this campaign – firstly, and most importantly we are seeking to assure our future guests that
they will be safe and secure with us, and will be unaffected by the events going on elsewhere in Egypt. Secondly we want to encourage people to come to Egypt in order to support the tourism and diving industry here, which is a huge contributor to the country’s economic survival. In this campaign we have been involving our guests on site to share their opinions and feelings – not only with us, but with you as well. We have already released two videos featuring interviews with guests of different nationalities on site in Marsa Shagra and on Tuesday we invited our guests and staff to stand side-by-side for a group photo on the beach in Marsa Shagra. We hope that you will see the happy faces of all who came and we would like to express our sincere thanks to those who went on camera – especially those who didn’t feel comfortable but volunteered to do so as they felt so strongly that they wanted to help. Our guests find it hard to understand why some of their own governments have extended travel warnings to the Red Sea, yet they feel totally unaffected.
The Southern Red Sea and Marsa Alam region offer some of the most incredible and untouched diving and desert experiences. Just a few days ago we had a sighting of a Whale Shark at Elphinstone (just 20 minutes by zodiac) and a Thresher shark on the house reef at Marsa Shagra, as well as the usual sightings of Dugongs at various shore sites along the coast, Dolphins at Shaab Samadai and Satayah, Turtles on our house reefs and much more.
Our most Northern village is over 800km from Cairo – that’s over 8 hour’s drive or over a 1 hour flight! Luxor is over 3 hours away, and even Hurghada (another well-known Red Sea tourist destination) is also over 3 hours away. Many European countries offer flights directly to Marsa Alam airport which is just 40 minutes’ drive from Marsa Shagra. The Red Sea region has always had an increased security presence in each zone, and we also have security patrolling on site as a
standard measure.
We hope that this serves to reassure you of your safety – whether you have booked to visit one of our villages already, or whether you are tempted to book but are not sure. But if you would like to hear it from our guests – we encourage you to watch this video on our YouTube channel.
As well see a full collection of our Support Egypt pictures on our webpage gallery.
We look forward to greeting you soon here in the Southern Red Sea, and if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
