Egypt has been through constant changes since 2011. It has been a time of ups and downs, but we believe that we are slowly making our path to a positive future.
A problem we are facing in the Southern Red Sea is that the international media takes the events from certain confined areas of Egypt, such as in Sinai in recent weeks, and uses them as a generalisation for the whole country. The Red Sea governorate (starting from El Gouna until Hamata in the deep South) has always been free from unrests or incidents. Especially here in the deep south, the close community of Marsa Alam knows each other very well, the area is very easy to control.
Many of our visitors are troubled by the wrong and generalised image of the media about safety for tourists. Among them is BBC Wildlife Videographer and RSDS Videography Workshop leader Jeff Goodman, who decided to take time to approach guests in Marsa Shagra, with Sarah from the RSDS Team, and ask them how they feel, what they have been doing so far on their holiday, and if they have any messages for those thinking about travelling to Egypt.
