We are happy to announce that the winner of the RSDS Photo Competition for September has been chosen. Congratulations to Justin Ormand with his photo "Jewels in the Crown".
Justinwins a free stay at the RSDS village of his choice. You can view the winning photo, and all the September participants here.
If you would like a chance to win, simply register on our website and upload your photos from our competition page. Each day we choose a 'photo of the day' from the selection of entries. Registered users of our website can give all the photos a star rating. At the end of the month our Photo Pro and photography workshop leader, Paul ‘Duxy’ Duxfield, looks at the votes and chooses a winner from the highest scoring photos. Full terms and conditions and prize details are available here.
Congratulations again to Justin, and good luck to all those participating this year!
Paul Duxfield, our competition judge:
"This months choice is an example where just because you’ve been lucky enough to have a great experience with a headline creature like a dolphin,a dugong or a whale shark won’t automatically guarantee that you’ll scoop a first place. And although the dolphin from Manuel, the Dugong and Whale Shark by Ahmed, are all excellent shots, my favourite this time is a much smaller less glamorous wee beastie. Sometimes the smaller details on the reef are equally as worthy and the great thing about underwater photography is that every time you descend you're in with a chance of grabbing a great picture.
So my choice this week is the beautifully observed study of the little damsel framed perfectly against the red background of the anemone, surrounded by the tentacles and it’s brethren, by Justin Ormand. It’s sharp, the main interest observes the rule of thirds and the whole picture is a great composition in shape and colour. Well done great work.
