We are happy to announce that the winner of the RSDS Photo Competition for May has been chosen. Congratulations to Jana Shut with her photo "Sunday - Time for getting clean and beautiful!".
Jana wins a free stay at the RSDS village of her choice. You can view the winning photo, and all the May participants here.
If you would like a chance to win, simply register on our website and upload your photos from our competition page. Each day we choose a 'photo of the day' from the selection of entries. Registered users of our website can give all the photos a star rating. At the end of the month our Photo Pro and photography workshop leader, Paul ‘Duxy’ Duxfield, looks at the votes and chooses a winner from the highest scoring photos. Full terms and conditions and prize details are available here.
Congratulations again to Jana, and good luck to all those participating this year!
Paul Duxfield, our competition judge:
"First must I say I am in total agreement with the public vote. And for a combination of great composition, eye for detail, behaviour and bravery is Jana Schut’s picture of the toothsome Titan Trigger Fish being cleanedby a cleaner wrasse. Well done Jana.A lovely example of the day to day life that goes on, at a busy reef cleaning station, of which there are many at the Red Sea Dive Safari house reefs, and of course further afield. You have to be careful with Titan Trigger Fish during the nesting season in late summer, as they can become quite aggressive and those teeth can do some damage to the unwary. There were some great entires as always, but if a little constructive criticism is welcomed then some were let down by not getting the technicalities correct. For instance great compositions were marked down because of over exposure or some shots weren't quite in focus.
Paul “Duxy” Duxfield"
Duxy ran an escorted photo workshop in Marsa Shagra on 8th December 2017. These workshops are designed for camera users of all experience levels, with any type of underwater camera.
