We are happy to announce that the winner of the RSDS Photo Competition for June has been chosen. Congratulations to Adam Nygus with his photo “Time for Lunch“!
We would like to apologise for the late release of the news of the winner of June’s competition.
Adam wins a free stay at the RSDS village of his choice. You can view the winning photo, and all the June participants here.
If you would like a chance to win, simply register on our website and upload your photos from our competition page. Each day we choose a 'photo of the day' from the selection of entries. Anyone can register on our website and vote on photos entered into the competition. At the end of the month our Photo Pro and photography workshop leader, Paul ‘Duxy’ Duxfield, looks at the votes and chooses a winner from the highest scoring photos. Full terms and conditions and prize details are available here.
Congratulations again to Adam, and good luck to all those participating in 2019!
From Paul Duxfield, our competition judge:
A mythical creature that doesn't exist!! Adam has decided to, inadvertently i'm sure, really annoy me with a picture of a creature that has so far eluded me on every occasion that I’ve visited Red Sea Diving Safari. A Dugong no less.
Apparently they're fairly frequent visitors to this stretch of the Red Sea coastline, but never witnessed by me in nearly thirty years of diving Grrrrrr!!! So even though I take every great shot of a Dugong as a personal attack, this was such a lovely example of this magnificent creature eating lunch that I had to award it this months winning accolade.
The dolphins were good by Eva, but in the end my favourite was the moody study of the Dugong.
I am not without criticism of it though, as I found the unlit pilot fish on the right a bit distracting from an otherwise great composition. So I’ve been a bit cheeky and done a very quick re-edit to get rid of this aggravating element:
This is a very fast and easy task to do in Photoshop and other editing programs, and me , Phil and Anne from Alphamarine Photography will be sharing hints and tips like this and many more at next years Red Sea Photo Camp in early June 2020.
This years was such fun and all three of us are really pleased to be doing more of the same with a whole new fresh schedule for next year.
So well done Adam great image, and I hope you don’t mind my edit.
