We are happy to announce that the winner of the RSDS Photo Competition for October 2020 has been chosen. Congratulations to Paul Eijkemans with his photo “Lifting Off“!
Paul wins a free stay at the RSDS village of his choice. You can view the winning photo, and all the October participants here.
If you would like a chance to win, simply register on our website and upload your photos from our competition page. Each day we choose a 'photo of the day' from the selection of entries. Anyone can register on our website and vote on photos entered into the competition. At the end of the month our Photo Pro and photography workshop leader, Paul ‘Duxy’ Duxfield, looks at the votes and chooses a winner from the highest scoring photos. Full terms and conditions and prize details are available here.
Congratulations again to Paul, and good luck to all those participating in 2020!
From Paul Duxfield, our competition judge:
'As you know from previous competitions this is often a very difficult choice for me, with a number of worthy potential winners entered. And whilst theres no shortage of good shots this month, as examples Gennady's beautiful golden hour picture of the reef with glorious dappled light beams, and there was some cracking creature portraits notably from Ann Sophie, Wioletta and Sylvere Dupont, there really was ever only one clear winner this month. And that is the stunning picture of a Dugong clearly in motion rising up from the sea grass beds with its retinue of pilot fish in attendance.
It really is a great shot from the disturbed sand showing motion, the diagonally positioned Dugong and the splash of contrasting colour with the yellow Pilot fish.
As close to a perfect shot as it's possible to get, and commiserations to the others entering great pictures this month, but I’m sure you’ll agree that Paul Eijkemans picture really takes some beating.
Very well done indeed.'
