We are happy to announce that the winner of the RSDS Photo Competition for November 2020 has been chosen. Congratulations to Cezary Joz with his photo “Meeting with Shark - Elphinstone“!
Cezary wins a free stay at the RSDS village of his choice. You can view the winning photo, and all the November participants here.
If you would like a chance to win, simply register on our website and upload your photos from our competition page. Each day we choose a 'photo of the day' from the selection of entries. Anyone can register on our website and vote on photos entered into the competition. At the end of the month our Photo Pro and photography workshop leader, Paul ‘Duxy’ Duxfield, looks at the votes and chooses a winner from the highest scoring photos. Full terms and conditions and prize details are available here.
Congratulations again to Cezary, and good luck to all those participating in 2020!
From Paul Duxfield, our competition judge:
'After the clear winner from last month, November is proving to be more tricky to judge as we’ve a good spread of quality entrants of equal standing here.
The first shot I looked at is a lovely fish portrait of a File Fish nestling beautifully alongside a Butterfly Fish in some fire coral.
A great composition with the fish in three quarter view looking out from the frame, with the blue water and yellow coral surrounding it.
Another I was drawn too, was the moody and dark shot of a big turtle and diver at Abu Dabab (i'm guessing?) by Andre Monsimier, again dramatically framed with the sunbeams entering the shot top left, the turtle a splash of light within the darker green frame, and scale added with the addition of a diver to exaggerate the size of these wonderful modern day dinosaurs.
The shot I finally decided upon though was another impressive creature and diver juxtaposition, and that is Cezary Joz’ picture of an Oceanic White Tip at Elphinstone, and the shot is made by the body language of the diver in the frame highlighting the excitement of an encounter with these beautiful creatures.
So well done Cezary a great shot, but closer competition this month.
Keep them coming folks, and hopefully next year in June in my workshop with Alphamarine Photography I can get to meet some of you people and we can go for a dive together :)'
