Judith and Janina, two German girls, wrote a nice and moving statement about 'why coming to Egypt during these days' for Red Sea Diving Safari. Read in the following what the girls have to say:
"The main reason for making Marsa Shagra the destination for our holiday was an inviting article about the camp in a diving magazine. We would not let the negative media coverage of the unrest overshadow our excitement about coming here. We all know how ‘objective’ the media can be…
The only tiny doubt we had was soon swept away by a very reassuring post on the RSDS Facebook Page. When we arrived at Marsa Alam airport we were greeted with a warm Egyptian welcome – a special warmth which we have also been enjoying in Marsa Shagra for the past days, along with breathtaking scenery both on land and underwater. The whole team in the village cares outstandingly about its guests from early morning until late at night.
The capital and the unrest are over 700km away and here in the South we do not feel any of this. The political differences are one thing, the loss of revenues from the tourism with its economic and social effects on millions of people who work here are another other thing. Agreements with short-time workers do not exist like we are used to in Germany.
The decision to come here for a holiday during these times in Egypt has to be taken by each person individually. For us, it was definitely the right decision!
We want to thank everyone for the great time here and hope, with our Egyptian friends, that the situation will quieten soon."
