We need your help to decide the monthly photo competition winner of July. To help you make your choice, our Photo Pro, Paul 'Duxy' Duxfield, has narrowed it down to two entries and we would like to involve you in the final decision by voting in our Facebook poll!
Here is what Duxy had to say:
Well, you certainly all know how to give me a headache ! This was a very tricky months competition to judge, but I eventually managed to whittle it down to just two shots that I now hand over to the RSDS public to make a final decision upon.
Before we get to them though I would like to mention a few of the diverse range of pictures that had me reaching for the aspirin, because I kept changing my mind about them. Michael Sjøstroms picture of a diver interacting with a friendly dolphin was very typical of the sort of encounter possible and frequent from all three of the RSDS camps, and is just the sort of shot that is great for engaging non divers and encouraging them to take up our great hobby. And then honourable mentions definitely need to be awarded to Alexandra Rjasanows pic of a Titan Trigger Fish, and Rolanda Baars head on shot of a Puffer Fish, both lovely.
Another that really drew my attention was the Squid by Laszlo Maraczi, by virtue of the carefully thought out background surface detail , and sets off this cephalopod beautifully with few other distraction in the frame.
But then also catching MY eye, and also by Laszlo, is the great close up picture of a Parrot Fish eye with a tiny cleaner shrimp barely visible just to the left of the pupil, which eventually made my final two. Balázs Kuruczs amazing behavioural shot of a luckless damsel fish breathing its last inside the mouth of a hungry moray, and an equally great shot was what made these pictures my choices.
So it’s over to you guys to choose the winner between Balázs or Laszlo.
