On Saturday 29th March 2014 at 20:00PM, RSDS switched off the lights in the central areas of each of our villages for one hour.
Wee were joining hundreds of millions of people across the world – Earth Hour, the world’s largest public environmental action.
By taking part in this ‘Lights Off’ event each year we are acknowledging our commitment to personal and operational actions that benefit the planet in the year ahead.
It is a global call to action for every individual, business, and government in the world. It is a call to take responsibility for our environmental impact and join a growing international community who are committed to leading global environmental change.
Earth hour 2014 was even bigger than before. Over 7000 cities and communities participated in the event in 162 countries. The Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Pyramids in Gizeh, the Empire State Building in New York, the Kremlin in Moscow, Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, the Tower Bridge in London, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and many other important emblems and buildings plunched into darkness for one hour. Even the International Space Station (ISS) swiched off the lights!
In Wadi Lahami guests enjoyed a candle lit dinner during earth hour, you can find the pictures here.
We hope you joined us in this important global initiative to make a commitment to an action that benefits the planet beyond the hour.
