We would like to thank everyone who entered our video competition for the January-June 2016 period. It wasn't an easy decision but our videography workshop leader Jeff Goodman has carefully judged the entries and made his decision!

General Feedback
Great videos and it was difficult once again to choose a winner. I know how much time and effort can go into producing and underwater video and I applaud all the entries. But there has to be a winner and this time it is Egypt Marsa Alam 2015 by Petr Civis. Future entrants should remember that a full edited video showing a variety of shots is really what we are looking for here.

Nice Arial opening with good camp shots to set the mood. The followed by excellent underwater images all very well exposed and framed. Really liked your camera moves as well. I was a little despondent when I saw it was 6 minutes long but the quality of the images along with some lovely animal behaviour kept me watching right through.

Marsa Shagra 2015 – Johann Altschach
Liked your opening shot and choice of music. Very well filmed with excellent camera work and lighting. For me personally though, the video was far too long without a change of pace or story. Sometime less is more, especially when there is no narration or information.

Hi Mitch. A good try and you obviously had some great diving and encounters. It is often the case though that the moment of excitement we experience when filming underwater wildlife doesn't always translate to good watchable images when back on dry land. Especially to audiences that weren't there with you at the time. My suggestion is that you try to concentrate on shooting less, take your time and try to hold the camera very steady. You are certainly getting nice and close to the animals but need just a little more practice in the filming of them. Keep going and enjoy.

Egypt Marsa Alam 2015 - Petr Civis
Liked it a lot. A video with good energy and pace to it. Just the right length too. Many of the shots were possibly the sort that other people may have thrown away but you did some great editing and made it all work.
