Over four days, 6 guests attended the EcoDiver course led by Stephan Moldzio, which included four theory presentations:
Introduction and Reef Check Method, Fish, Invertebrates and Human Impact, Substrates including Coral, Algae, Reef Rock and Sands.
After the training period, another 6 Eco Divers joined the newly trained group.
It was a good number and a great mixed team to do all the different surveys planned: Marsa Shagra House Reef north and south, Marsa Egla and Torfa Wadi Lahamis House Reef exposed and protected.
The marine biologist Dr. Ahmed M. Shawky joined the team for a few days.
He gave very informative talks about dolphins and dugongs in the Red Sea. He also accompanied the group on the way down to Wadi Lahami.
During the drive south they did several stops while he explained the area and a lot about the flora and fauna around the Red Sea coast.
A big thank you to all participants who took the time during their vacation to complete the course and participate in the surveys which are very important to us in monitoring the health of our coral reefs.
Keep an eye on our Reef Check page for upcoming dates if you are interested in becoming a certified Eco Diver or would like to take part in our surveys.
