Congratulations again to Luna, and good luck to all those participating in the coming months!
From Paul Duxfield, our competition judge:
Down to another two for my final choices for the April competition.
And as per usual I’m a little torn by the decision I have to make.
Two great shots, one a macro and one a wideangle, but both could be put into the category of fish shots as opposed to reefscape or scene, as a lot of widengle pictures often are.
There was as usual a couple of close also rans, I loved the Clownfish duo perfectly composed one right at the forefront of the shot the other filling one of the thirds in the back of the image, by Tom Bolle, i'm sure he waited a while for that to line up.
Also loved the Lionfish picture, shot slightly from front and below which never fails to elicit a more dramatic response in the viewer, from Johan Magnusson.
But it was a beautiful shot of a pair of Coral Gobies facing off, set against a repeating and contrasting coloured coral background, and a lunging toothy Moray that made me double take this month.
Difficult because I really love them both and they both show patience and a good eye for detail, particularly Morgan Osman’s shot, very well observed and framed.
In the end though I think the Moray edges it for me, it’s dramatic and I think the sort of picture that a non diving or snorkelling viewer would also really appreciate, so top of the class for Luna Lomabart.
